If you must unite, Marx wrote to the party leaders, then enter into agreements to satisfy the practical aims of the movement, but do not allow any bargaining over principles, do not make theoretical ‘concessions.’ This was Marx’s idea, and yet there are people among us who seek—in his name— to belittle the significance of theory!
— Lenin, What is to Be Done?, 1902

Below is a suggested reading list, which has been curated by the Sparkyl Editorial Board. Our intention with releasing this list is to provide comrades with direction for both their individual study of Marxism and for the organization of Marxist reading circles. We have loosely organized the list by topic, and would like to especially emphasize the Foundational Works section, as the works in this section, when taken together, constitute a fairly well-rounded and complete Marxist political understanding.

Because Marxism requires study and can sometimes be challenging to learn, we have also included study tips, which we hope can provide needed guidance and context to many of the works. We will update both the list and study tips as appropriate.
